Daldo Marte started making toys as a child. He initially used paper and then cardboard, before subsequently finding a unique approach. Daldo transforms the inner tubes of worn-out car tyres into a huge range of figures: animals, hominoid beings, spaceships and various creations drawn from his own imaginary world and from his favourite comic strips and cartoons. Some of his figures are cut simply but extremely precisely directly out of the rubber, while others are a combination of rubber with other materials, from which Daldo cuts specific parts in order to create three-dimensional figures. He also makes armoured outfits, such as those worn by superheroes. He uses recycled cardboard and plastic to create these outfits, and wears them when walking around the neighbourhood.
