Arthur Prins started drawing as a child. However, he claims that he only became an artist at the age of 36. Arthur compares creating art to beachcombing – the various images wash up, as it were, on the beach.
He does not use art to express his emotions. Arthur constantly seeks balance between his colours, shapes and composition, which makes him the director of his own universe. Topical subjects such as the election contest between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton and the death of David Bowie play a significant role in his art.
Arthur Prins’ work has been displayed at institutions including the Outsider Art Gallery in Amsterdam, Galerie Atelier Herenplaats and The Dolhuys | museum of the mind. His work was also featured at the Art Brut Biennale in Hengelo, the Netherlands.
